Brick Walls

My First Genealogy Blog:  Our Genealogical Brick Walls

Seeking descendant Cousins, to help with documentation, perhaps meet a few of our related ancestors next of kin and share our lineages.  I'm a  Historical consultant that specializes in Family histories; pedigrees, research records and source retrievals.  My purpose is to locate artifacts such as legal records to find their burials. Our aim is to preserve our families heritage and those unique cultural attributes that created the society in which we were raised and live.  I've had many helpers who gathered photography, books and testimonials.
We collected names and relationships to help grow the branches to our own Family TREE.  We would like to understand and learn to appreciate them for who they were and how they lived;  thus is how we evolved into Who we are. Why did these immigrants choose to migrate to the America's? How did they get or earn the funds to travel so far? Were they indentured servants or Freeman or did they pay their own fares? And who were the relatives they left behind in their homelands?  Our Ancestors all connect because they chose to relocate to the United States of America; the Land of the Free and the home of the Brave.

Words highlighted on this page with black bold lettering are click able web source links you can follow that will direct you to other sites and also to secondary sources that have more case information than what is presently posted.

Corrective and instructive criticism is welcomed for future improvements! Primary and secondary sources are greatly appreciated as is your time and considerations and emails.  This is important to my Family because we don't know how we came to be "Who we are today."

1. Our Third Great Grandfathers adopted name was Reuben Brown Dyke. He was born 18 May 1851 Antioch, Lake, Illinois. A Teamster who resided on Queen Street in Southington, Hartford, CT.
Reuben B. Dyke died in year 1933, his last residence was recorded as 35 West Main Street in Plainville, Hartford, Connecticut.
Reuben B. Dyke married Martha Pratt Porter, she was born 26 Sept 1836 in Southfield, Oakland, Michigan.
Martha was the daughter of Jonas Stanley Pratt and Abigail C. Warren.
Her parents were the original member's of The Franklin Community Church.

Jonas Pratt followed his father and step mother and relocated to Michigan.
Sources: Michigan Marriages, Census records and The Franklin Community Church record.
Their daughter Martha Pratt for some unknown reason moved to the Northeast.
Was it because of the death of her parents?  Where were her parents laid to rest, possibly in  Franklin or Southfield, Michigan? Did Jonas Pratt and Abigail Warren have other children besides our Martha?
Martha first married a unknown Porter of Plainville, Hartford, CT.
I have not located her first marriage record.  "She had family ties to a Funeral home in Plainville" (Pam Hillman)
Martha Pratt Porter Dyke died 14 May 1914 in Southington, Hartford, CT.

Reuben Brown Dyke was the Adopted son of Milo Dyke.  Reuben's biological or Adoptive mother could be one of Milo's wives or none of them! Louisa Brown is not this Reuben's mother! She died before his birth.
The Dyke's lived for many years on their family farm.  We've collected a substantial amount of empirical evidence such as Newspaper article images, Obituaries and pictures to add to our Family Tree at Ancestry.com.
Here is one that was found recently and contributed by cousin Pam Hillman.
Southington News, Newspaper, April 1870-

This Image was viewed and accessed in 2013 on the website Genealogybank.com.
Several of our family members Obituaries were published by The Hartford Courant and The New Britain Herald.  I found other related publications from the ProQuest Historical Newspaper Database and Ancestry's Historical Newspaper Database.
These are the best places to search for Sources for your own Genealogy and Family History information.
Ten Years ago, I was a Ancestry and Genealogy Newbie.
One day while surfing the web, I happened to find the Surname message boards. I  posted a search query request to the Dyke board. I received a email response fairly quick. It contained old articles published about these specific Dyke Ancestors. That email was my very First Random Act of Genealogical Kindness
A very nice gentleman from the boards read my Dyke posts and decided to volunteer and helped us out. He sent the first four Dyke articles to me!

2.  Seeking birthplace and kinship or surrogate and probate records for "Milo Dyke" which we suspect might be most likely found somewhere in the Northeast. Milo was born about 1805-1806. The collection of records I have repeatedly state," Milo was born in Connecticut." The date is his approximate year of birth not exact.
First official primary document for Milo was his Baptism record, kindly contributed by Pam Hillman.
In the year 1827, he was Baptized as a adult at The Church of Christ in Norfolk, Litchfield, Connecticut.
Milo's first wife was Miss Louisa Brown, daughter of Reuben Quincy Brown and Huldah Griswold of Goshen, Litchfield, Connecticut.
Milo and Louisa Dyke had five biological children. Lovisa Brown Dyke died young and her two boys deaths followed shortly thereafter.
Source information:  (Mortality Schedules, Norfolk, Litchfield, CT).
Louisa's death was mentioned in the book; History of Norfolk, Connecticut.
Their sons Reuben and Milo A. Dyke died before the year 1860.
They're buried in a Cemetery in Norfolk, Litchfield, CT.
Milo Dyke Sr. died in 1885 while residing on his farm in Southington, Hartford, CT.
Sources: (CT Death and Burials index, Findagrave.com and Familysearch.org).
He was buried in his family plot with his second wife and daughters in Hamden, CT.
Sources: (Memorial Tombstone photographs Findagrave.com).
Milo Dyke was married three times and was a widow twice. His first two marriages were recorded in the pre 1870s Barbour collection for Norfolk, CT.
Daughter's Lucy & Electra Dyke's marriages were recorded in Hamden, New Haven, CT.

Milo Dyke and family were laid to rest at Whitneyville Cemetery in Hamden, New Haven, CT.
Milo and Lucy had three daughter's, Abigail Armette Dyke, she did not marry, they affectionately called her Abbie. The other two daughters were Electra Brown Dyke, she married James Warner. Lucy Minerva Dyke married Hobart Wooding. The daughters lived long enough to make it to adulthood. The daughter's left  several descendants (Pam Hillman,).
After the first wife died, Milo married Martha Griswold. Step mother, Martha raised Louisa's five children.Sometime after their marriage, Milo Dyke adopted a son and named him Reuben Brown Dyke. The Adoption took place between the years 1851-1870 in Connecticut or Antioch, Illinois.
Milo's second and third wives are possible birth mother's for the second child. The Adopted one they named Reuben Brown Dyke. We have not found the names of Reuben's biological parents.
Milo had to hold his first wife's father Reuben Brown in the highest regard, he named his son and a second adopted child after this man, his father in-law.
Why was this man was so important to Milo?  Did Milo attended his school or help raise and nurture him? Are there any documents or books out there that might mentioned these names or the students of Mr. Reuben Brown's School?
There is a Miles Diack family listed in 1810 Federal Census for Burlington, Hartford, CT.
He would have been around the age of 5 years old. He would not of been listed as a head of household, so is this his father and our Dyke family?
Seeking Parentage and family history information for Martha Griswold Dyke & Mary Smith Churchill Dyke.

Pam Hillman is a descendant of Milo Dyke and Louisa Brown. She is a professional Genealogist and a Volunteer researcher. She is a  member of NEGHS. Her work is found on Interment.com.
I created the duplicate burial for Milo at Findagrave.com

3.  Seeking Birth record and Parentage records for Reuben Bates Sr.
He was born around the  year 1767 in New Bedford, Bristol, MA.

Reuben Bates married Abigail Wright in June 1793 in Chester, Hampshire, MA.
Vital records of Chester, Massachusetts recorded their marriage and baptisms and death for some of the Bates children.
The First Congregational Church of Chester has the original documentation for these records.
It states, "Reuben Bates was of Western, MA."
Western was a township in Warren, Worcester, MA.
Western Massachusetts is also referred to as a broad geographical region along the Connecticut River Valley.
There is a town named Weston, MA!
Reuben and Abigail Batis were living in Chester, Hampshire, Massachusetts in the 1800 Federal Census. They're living there in 1810 Federal Census,  the township of Chester changed Counties after this census. Chester officially became apart of Hampden County.

Update-Reuben & Abigail Bates are buried in the West Andover Cemetery
The memorial stones were located and are deteriorating but their graves are marked. The Bates are buried next other family members. I clearly can read the name REUBEN Bates on his stone. I can't believe it was finally found! Thank you, Mr. Cole.
Abigail Bates headstone is completely unreadable!
There are two other unreadable headstones right next to theirs, possibly Dexter Bates and his wife Matilda or Mosley Bates and his wife Abigail Houghton.

Cousin Dave Francis shared all of his Wright Ancestry Research with us for the benefit of finding and documenting and connecting our Bates lineages.
Cousin Loretta Bates contributed significantly to her husbands line and our Bates Genealogy. She shared pedigree charts and family history stories. Mrs. Bates found and documented some of our Bates Ancestors burials in New York.

4.  Seeking Burial, Marriage and locations for our 5th Great Grandfather Reuben Bates Jr.
He did not follow his parents to Ohio. Reuben Bates Jr. was born 18 Nov 1803 in Chester, Hampden, MA and died around the year 1880 in Canaan, Columbia County, New York.
He was the husband of  Mrs. Lucretia Fleming Bates. We have not located their marriage record perhaps in Lebanon Springs, New York.
The birth records for their children are found in town records for West Stockbridge and Lenox, Berkshire, MA.
Lucretia Bates is buried near her Grandson Erastus Rack Bates in the Canaan Center Cemetery. Chatham Rural Cemetery and Flatbrook Cemetery are possible location for other family members.
The Bates children were daughter Nancy Bates married Erastus Fuller.
Daughter, Lucinda Bates married Silas Barden. The Bardens had two sons, they named William and Silas Barden. Lucinda Bates died in 1865 and she is buried in Chatham Rural Cemetery. Lucinda Bates Barden went back to using her maiden name Bates in the last records I found. What ever happened to her husband Silas Barden?
One or both of these Barden Boys, left two children.  These Barden names appeared in the newspaper article from Fultonhistory as Charles Barden and Fred Barden as heirs to The Bates Homestead.  Lucinda Bates was the last known Bates heir to reside on the old Bates Homestead.
Reuben and Lucretia had a son William H. Bates. He born 1842 in West Stockbridge, MA.  He is namesake and a Uncle to our Third Great Grandfather William H. Bates born in 1871.
Uncle William H. Bates might have married a unknown woman and they had only one son, they named him Homer Bates.
The Bates Family would love to know who was Homer's mother? What happened to her?
When and Where did his father William H. Bates die? Where are his parents marriage record and where are they both buried?
Their only son, Homer Bates died tragically one day in April of 1930.
Homer was visiting his son Edward Bates in Pittsfield, MA.
Homer went outside for a walk and never returned.  He was found deceased in a stream in Becket, MA.
Homer's residence was Canaan, Columbia, New York.
His Obituary and articles about his death were published in the Berkshire Eagle and Chatham Courier Newspapers.
Homer Bates married Mary Ellen Tiffany.
Mary Ellen Tiffany Bates was tragically killed by a train accident in the year 1916.  This happened in Canaan, Columbia, New York. Homer Bates was a widow when he married his second wife, Ida Lawson.
Right after the death of their mother, the Bates children spent time in the Children's Home.  Harry Homer Bates was the son of Homer Bates and Mary Ellen Tiffany. Our Tiffany lineage is blocked by these Brick Walls.
Mary Ellen Tiffany's parents were Miles Edwin Tiffany and Nancy Shaver.
His first name was found listed in records as Miles, Edwin and Edward!
Other Shaver alternates i tried were Schaeffer, Shaffer, and Schaffer.
In the year 1850, Miles Tiffany was found residing in Hancock, Berkshire, MA.
Source: 1850 Federal Census Hancock, Berkshire, MA.
He was living with the Joseph Patten Family in the Shaker Village Community.
He was attending The Shaker School at Hancock, MA.
The Search index for the Hancock Shaker Memorial Database stated with a question mark that "Miles or Moses Tiffany came from Salisbury, CT?"
Other Ancestry and Census records state, he was born in New York.
I last find this Tiffany family living in Hillsdale, Columbia, New York.
Reuben Bates Jr. and Lucretia Fleming Bates had one last daughter. Her name was Sarah Ann Bates. She was born in West Stockbridge.
Sara Bates married Henry L. Davis. They resided in Stockport, Columbia, New York.
They had three children.
Seeking names of these children and their descendants to add to our Family Tree.
Son, Reuben Bates III, the son of Reuben Bates Jr. and Lucretia Fleming Bates is mentioned below!

5.  Seeking Death and Burial records for our Fourth Great Grandparents. Reuben Bates III,  he was born in 1832 in West Stockbridge, Berkshire, MA.
In 1860 Federal Census, Reuben Bates Jr, was still single and boarding with a family in Pittsfield, MA.  Reuben Bates married Mary Hall Bates sometime after the year 1860.
Their official marriage record has not been located.
Mary Hall is first recorded with her parents in 1850 Federal Census for Savannah, Wayne County, New York.
Mary Hall Bates died 1929 in Plainville, Hartford, Connecticut. Burial is in West Cemetery!
Sometime around 1900; Reuben Bates left Lenox, Berkshire, MA without the comfort of his wife.
Reuben Bates III died around 1930, in the Area of Canaan or East Chatham, in Columbia County, New York.

Possibly buried near her mother Mary Hall Bates!
Their other daughter, Emma S. Bates married a Knox of Bethlehem, CT. Perhaps, it is the Knox family of Bethlehem, New York? She is our Great Grandma Emma's Bates namesake and her Aunt!

Our Third Great Grandparents were William H. Bates and he married Eleanor Martha Dyke.
Nellie Dyke was the only child of Reuben Brown Dyke and Martha Pratt that lived to adulthood.
William & Nelly Bates resided in Southington, Plainville and New Britain, CT.

I hope we can find Arthur and Frank Bates burial records that would be super... I believe they're buried in a Connecticut Cemetery

Nelly Dyke Bates is buried in a New Britain Cemetery.
William might be buried near her or in a West Cemetery in Plainville! I will get Nelly's official burial record from the Cemetery office very soon, I will see if it says where her husband was laid to rest. William Bates is buried in CT.
Erastus Bates went back to the Bates homestead  and he died unmarried in 1945 in Canaan, New York.
He resided in Southington, CT for a short time!

Did Emma Bates Knox have children and where did she die?
Where is our Third Great Aunt Emma Bates Knox buried?
Emma is possibly found living in 1930 Federal Census in Plymouth, Litchfield, Connecticut.
She was a servant to Francis Hall.
Is this Francis Hall a relative of her mother's? Is this Emma our Emma?
I can't find her residing with her husband in any of the Census's for CT. Could she be the Emma Knox of Columbia County, New York?
When did Erastus Fuller and wife Nancy Bates Fuller die and where were they buried?
Why? We believe Nancy might of made the arrangements for Reuben's death and burial.
The siblings might be buried near each other in another local Cemetery close to or near East Chatham or Canaan in New York State.

 6.  Seeking Parentage for our Maternal Fifth Great Grandparents Elijah Hall and Nancy Cummings Hall.
He is a possible son of James Hall of Ireland.
Elijah Hall is the father of Mary Hall Bates and John R. Hall.
Elijah was born about 1810 in New York. Elijah Hall and family were formally of the town named, Savannah, Wayne, New York.  Mr. Hall moved his family to Mount Washington by the release of the 1860 Census.  The Elijah Hall family is found in the 1880 Census in Lenox, MA.
He was buried in Melita, Michigan Cemetery with his wife Nancy Hall. Son John R. Hall and his wife Elizabeth Brockett Hall is buried with them in same plot.
Yes, I did write that in my Blog!
We need more documentation and descendants to prove our Hall Ancestry lineages.
I would love to find all our related and allied lines.
Everything I have found so far led us to this dilemma!
DNA matches would be amazing for all our unsolved Brick-Wall lineages!
Descendants with any of these listed surnames among our Brick walls, we really need you to take the DNA test.
Why? To find our missing links, our lost and missing blood lines, because our lines are blank or recorded  inaccurately, which makes finding data so difficult.
John R. Halls daughter, Clara J. Moore's Biographical history stated this for her Ancestry, "Grandfathers name was Samuel Hall."
Who is this Samuel Hall that she referred to in her Biographical page? One record states, John R. Hall previously resided in Bridgeport, CT.
Elijah Hall's Michigan Death record states, Elijah's father was a James Hall of Ireland. Seeking Nancy Cummings Hall birth and marriage records.  We believe this Hall family was born in New York State.
Seeking to finally place my Elijah Hall as the father of this John R. Hall.
What's is their middle names and where are their birth records?

I  recently found them at Find A Grave! Little to nothing is known about this James Hall family.
Fact: John R. hall had a son Asahel Elijah Hall! The first name Asahel, I found originates in Elizabeth Brockett line. The name Elijah is found in John Hall's line and his sons middle name was Elijah..
I believe the Findagrave.com record confirms this fact. They are buried together in same family plot, Elijah & Nancy Hall and John and Elizabeth Hall in this Michigan Cemetery.
These names are my Third generation and Fourth and Fifth generation Great Grandparents!

7.  Seeking Birth Origins, Parentage and Emigration, Naturalization and Passenger records to the United States of America!
Our Third Maternal Great Grandparents were John J. Hughes born about 1852 and his wife Jane Connelly or Donnelly.
Both of them were born in Northern Ireland according to the IGI record.
Source: (Familysearch.org.)
The Hughes may have come from County Cork, Ireland. Family Interview with Granddaughter [Denise Tomcic].
The Hughes were well-known for their distinctive Irish Accents. Family Interview with Granddaughter [Maryann Goodstein].
Other biographical Information was obtained from various records such Familysearch.org or Ancestry.com.
Sources: Census's, John Hughes's Draft Registration cards, IGI Family Record and The Connecticut Birth and Death indexes and personal family interviews.
For certain,  The John and Jane Hughes family are in 1900 Federal Census for Manchester, Hartford, CT.
Then they're in the 1910 Federal Census for Springfield, Hampden, MA.
They had a daughter and named her Madaline Hughes.
Madaline Hughes was born in South Manchester,  Hartford, CT.
She died in 1907 in Springfield, MA. Her death record lists her mothers maiden name as Donnelly instead of Connelly.
I just located her memorial on Findagrave.com! She is our Grandmothers namesake and Aunt.
Sometime before the year 1917, this Hughes family moved to New Britain, Hartford, CT.
The Grandchildren state, "John and Jane Hughes died while residing in New Britain, Hartford, Connecticut."
The Hughes families burial locations are alleged to be in The Fairview Cemetery and some at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Private John J. Hughes served in the Spanish American War. He served with Company I, N.B CT.
The IGI record for  Grandpa James Hughes states his mother's maiden name and listed as Connelly. It also states that his parents were both born in Northern Ireland.
The 1917-1918 Draft Registration for James Hughes Sr. lists his birth place as Manchester, CT.
The IGI record does have errors.
James Hughes Sr. died 1 Jan 1957 in the Newington Veteran's Hospital. His home residence was in New Britain, CT. Two of his daughters were Ruthie Hughes Terrill Wassil and Gladys Hughes Bednarz. They told family members that, "their father was born in the U.S.A."
Our Great Aunt Ruthie Hughes Wassil went to be with our Lord 6-17-2013!
Rest in Peace Aunt Ruthie you will be missed.
Funeral was held in Private.
Aunt Ruth was laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain, CT.
Ruth has survivors, one living sister and three sons. Her husband the late Pete Wassil, he died several years ago. I found out his families surname was americanized and it was originally of Polish origins.

James Joseph Hughes Sr. and  Emma Bates Hughes had several sons that served in the War!
Our Families Favorite Uncle, Donald L. Hughes served his Country in The Korean Conflict War. His nick name was Farmer and he worked at Amodio's for many years.
James Joseph Hughes Jr. served in the war and was wounded.
John Hughes Sr. was a Fireman in MA.
John and some of his boys were Firemen in New Britain too!
James Hughes was thrown off the Fire Engine and received serious injuries from that crash!

8.  Our Maternal Third Great Grandparents were Simon Niedzwiecki and Marianna Mackiewicz. They might have been Born about the year 1845. They resided in Sobelewo, Suwalki, Poland. It is possible the mother, Marianna Niedzwiecki and her youngest son, John Niedzwiecki came to USA through Ellis Island.
Marianna Mackiewicz Niedzwiecki may have died in New Britain, Hartford, CT.
I found two parishes of interest in Suwalki, Province of Poland.
I must write to the Parishes in Polish and have them find our Birth and Baptism and marriage records for the Niedzwieckis and Zukowskis Families.
I found numerous alternate spellings for their Surnames.
Simon's eldest son was Walter S. Niedzwiecki.
Wladislaus Niedzwiecki was born 1868 in Suwalki, Suwalki, Poland.
He married his first wife Marianna Borkowski in Poland. Mary Borkowski died in New Britain, Hartford, CT.
He was a widow when he married second wife, Rozalie Grsyz.
She was from Ranizowska, Ranizow, Poland.
Walter S. Niedzwiecki died in 1922 in New Britain, Hartford, CT. This is where the Rosol family ties into our line!
He owed a Saloon and lived on Orange Street and Broad Street in Little Poland, CT.
We conclude Simon had a first wife who is the unknown mother of Walter. Walter Niedzwiecki is a half-brother to our Great Grandfather Joseph Peter Niedzwiecki Sr.
These facts were obtained from written recorded Niedzwiecki family interviews. The Niedzwiecki's were personally interviewed by Uncle Jack aka Cousin John Niedzwiecki.
John is son of Joseph P. Niedzwiecki Jr. and Sophie B. Niedzwiecki.
John's Godfather is the Son of Walter, his name was Frank Niedzwiecki!

Walter's daughter Helen Niedzwiecki married Martin Rosol Sr.
Our Grandfather and Great Uncles always told us the Rosol's are related.
Cousin, Richard Rosol saw my Tree at Ancestry and contacted me. We collaborated and updated our Family Tree.
Walter Niedzwiecki's grand daughter, Judith P. contacted me several years ago. We exchanged and shared information and photographs. We would like to know more about our Polish Origins and culture!

Our  maternal Great Grandfather, Joseph Peter Niedzwiecki Sr. was born 10 Nov 1880 in Sobelewo, Suwalki, Poland. Josseph Niedzwiecki died 3 May 1962 in New Britain, Hartford, CT. He was a Polish speaking immigrant and became a permanent New Britain resident and City Baker for sixty years. Joseph Co-Owned two Bakeries he named "The Providence Baking Company."  The other Co-Owner's were his siblings.
J. Niedzwiecki 1915 is still viewable on his first Bakery Building.
We will always call the first Bakery, "The Niedzwiecki Bakery."
It was operating in 1910 on Broad Street. In the Neighborhood officially recognized as Little Poland.
The original first owner of building was Joseph Niedzwiecki.
The Second Bakery he purchased was known as "The Farmington Avenue Bakery."
He sold it to his Brother in-law, Paul Pietraszewski around the year 1930.
The Crystal Ballroom is now located where our second family Bakery once stood.
The Pietraszewski family were the last owner's of the Farmington Avenue Bakery.
The Bakery closed it doors shortly before 1980.
Anyone have any old photograph's of the Bakeries? Please Email me!
My Great Grandfather and his Sister Francis and her Husband Paul Pietraszewski ran the bakeries with members of their families!
Dziadek is first found in Ellis Island passenger records.
Dziadzio made several trips back to his homeland in Poland, facts obtained from family interviews.
Joseph P. Niedzwiecki married Helen Zukowski on 27 Jan 1902 in Norwich, New London, CT.
He was a widow if he married a woman named Julia unknown aft 1952.  I have not found the hints for his second Marriage at Ancestry or Familysearch.
Pietraszewski Ancestry and  Farmington Avenue Bakery and sibling information provided by Roland Vollbehr and Valerie Pietraszewska. Valerie is the Grand daughter of Francis Niedzwiecki and Paul Pietraszewski.
Pietraszewski family is formally of Suwalki, Poland.
Ellis Island has our families Passenger Records.

9. Our Great Grandmother was Halina-Helen Zukowska-Zukowski.
She was the first wife of Joseph P. Niedzwiecki Sr. Helena was born 1873 in Kukow, Suwalki, Poland. Helen Niedzwiecki died in 1952 in New Britain, Hartford, Connecticut. Their passenger records were found at Ellisisland.org.
It states, "Helen and Eva Zukowski previously resided in Kolno, Poland."
Helena & Eva Zukowska were the daughter's of Romuald and Catherine Zukowski
Tukowski is the spelling that was used in index for their marriage. This is why, I could not locate this specific record long!
Connecticut Marriages 1729-1867 is their Parents names source.
Helen and Eva Zukowski arrived to the United States in 1896. They came through Ellis Island as Immigrant Polish speaking Passengers.  They were both headed to Norwich in New London County, CT.
Eva Zukowska has not been found on any record in the State of Connecticut.
She disappeared completely once she arrived.
I wonder if they were related to the other Zukowski family of Norwich? What ever happened to Great Aunt EWA Zukowski-sky-ska?
It took ten frustrating years to finally find that marriage record.
It was that needle in the haystack.
Her name could be Americanized, Genevieve Zukowski or by Polish spelling of Genowefa Zukowska.
Helen Zukowska was the mother of all the Niedzwiecki children.
One child was born in Norwich and all the others were born in New Britain, CT. Member's of this family are buried at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Helen and Eva Zukowski also had a brother Lucian or Louis Zukowski that came here. He was born in 1888 in Poland. Louis lived in New Britain, CT. He resided at times with different family members.  I found his burial location at Findagrave.com.
Seeking their Parents Origins to discover our Polish Roots.
Joseph and Helen's children spoke of a Polish relative who would visit them in New Britain, named Sister Domicina. She lived in convent in Ohio. We do not know her real name. Family would like to know who she really was and if this was our EVA!

10.  Third Great Uncle Erastus Fuller was born 12 April 1827 Lenox, Berkshire, MA. VR Lenox, MA Vol. II.
He married my Third Great Aunt Nancy Bates. They resided and died in Canaan, Columbia, New York
Erastus Fuller was a son of Dayton Fuller & Sophia Warren
Dayton Fuller was born about 1790 in Lenox, Berkshire, MA.
Sophia Warren was born about 1790. We do not know anything else about Sophia what so ever.  Daton is son of Dayton/Daton Fuller born 11 May 1755 in Hebron, Tolland, CT. Dayton Fuller died 7 July 1833 in Lenox, MA. Deaths, (VR Lenox, MA)
Dayton & Asa Fuller of Hebron have Revolutionary War pension files that name each other as brothers.
(Revolutionary War Pension,  Heritage Quest.)
His brother Asa Fuller was of Rome, Oneida, New York.
Hoping to further this line to my first Fuller and Warren ancestors!
Seeking parentage records for Asa Fuller and Margaret Darbe.

11. Our Sixth Great Grandfather was Private Thomas Williams.
He was born in 1735. Thomas Williams enlisted in the Army from Canaan,Columbia, New York. He served in the Revolutionary War. His pension application claim was processed on July 1820. It stated his Current age at the time he made the application. His exact death date and Burial location is not known. The Vital record dates don't match up with the Thomas Williams of Cleaverack. Perhaps that was a relative?
His application also mentioned a contact person for him named, George Cornwall of New Lebanon, Columbia, New York.
Who was this guy George Cornwall?
Private Thomas Williams was the father of my 5th Great Grandmother, Nancy Williams.
Nancy Williams born about 1758 and her birth place is unknown, possibly near New Lebanon, Columbia County, New York. She married Sept 1783 William Flammon in Richmond, MA. I found two different recorded marriage dates and alternate spellings for Flamont Name!
Nancy Flemming died 12 Feb 1846 in Pittsfield, Berkshire, MA.
Thomas Williams wife and Nancy's mother was Mehittabel unknown. Hitty a nickname was wrote on pension application as a abbreviation for William and Nancy Flemings daughter, possibly named Mehittabel Fleming.
Thomas Williams served at least once in same Army Company with soon to be son in-law William Fleming. This was around the time of his daughters marriage between the dates of Sep 1783 and Aug 1784.
Thomas Williams and wife are mentioned in William Fleming's Pension application statement. It was written by Nancy Williams Fleming and Lucretia Fleming Bates.  His Grand daughter Lucretia Fleming Bates of Canaan, New York was wife of Reuben Bates Jr. She wrote a statement to help her mother receive her fathers pension rights.
Where does this Williams line originate and where are they buried? Are they related to the other Williams Families of Richmond, MA?
They resided near Lenox, Massachusetts and Canaan, Columbia, New York. Seeking children's names and surnames to add to our Descendant Tree!

Our Fifth Great Grandfather, Private William Fleming was born in 1755 in New Lebanon, New York. He died Feb 1815 from a Epidemic Fever.  His death occurred while on a visit to German Flatts, Montgomery, New York.  Hope to locate his burial location!
It is important to us to Honor them both they served our Country for us in the Revolutionary War!
Their deaths and burials were not  previously recorded in any book source like other Revolutionary War Soldiers were!

12.  We are searching for Ferriere Cousins in FRANCE!
Hope to locate Birth, Death and Burial records and the Parents names for our
Great Grandfather Augustin Ernest Ferriere born 7 Mar 1881 in Monsegur, Girode, Aquitaine, France.  Vital Records are from the Acts of Sauveterre.
Ernest Augustin Ferriere is son of Marguerite Claire Unknown and Unknown Ferriere. Ernest Ferriere married Louise Elenore Barat on 11 Feb 1905 in Sauveterre De Guyene, France.
They had three children, Ives Guy, Serge Fernand and Juliette Ferriere all now deceased.  Ernest Augustine Ferriere may have been a Doctor and possibly married once before. Augustin Ferriere died about 1923. He was buried in Sauveterre, De-Guyene, Aquitaine, France.
Seeking and searching for information on living children of our Cousin Juliette Ferriere Deque.
Juliette Degue was born 8 Nov 1908 and died 16 Nov 1988. She married Andre Deque or Degue or Dague of Toulouse, Bordeaux, France.
Juliette Degue's residence at time of her death was Rue La Fon,
Sauveterre De-Guyenne, Girode, Aquitaine, France.
Juliette Degue was buried in Sauveterre, France.
They had two daughters, Ginette and Andrea Degue.
Jeannette Dague came to live U.S.A.
She resided with her Grandma Louise Barat Ferriere Taylor in New York City, New York. We don't know what became of her Ginette, Did she marry? Cousin Ginette Degue went back to France when she got word her mother was Dying!
Andrea Deque married a unknown Haristoy.
They had two sons, Dominique and Didier Haristoy.
They were last known to be residing near Sauveterre or Bordeaux, France.

*Brick wall update 8/25/2013: Two Ferriere cousins contacted The Haristoy's via their Facebook. We found out they're still living in Bordeaux, France.

We would like to  thank "Facebook" for making these close family connections possible for all us! We last had contact with our Haristoy Cousins in the mid to late 70's. That is over 30 years ago! Didier Haristoy wrote to my Aunt Denise , he said, Andrea Haristoy his mother is 88 years old and her sister Ginette is 90 years old. Both are living in Bordeaux, France! This is so amazing and awesome had to share! I found his profile about two months ago! I received the confirmation yesterday from my Auntie.  He had responded to her message via their Facebook accounts. I can't believe we really found our Cousins in France on FACEBOOK! These women were my Grandpa's nieces!

Our Great Grandma Louise's brother was Printer Rene Barat.
He was born Jan 4 1888 in Sauveterre, France. Rene was captured by Nazi in France for being a name counterfeiter and found on The Deported list #44592. His date of arrest was on 27 Jan 1944.  He was liberated and released at the Historic Buchenwald concentration camp on 11 April 1945. His historical information was found on Concentration Camp lists and in a few memorial books and a Blog and in two Family Trees.
Our Great Grand Uncle was this Rene Barat.
A Buchenwald concentration camp survivor.
He was a our families only Holocaust Victim.
Once Liberated, Rene returned home to his Barat family. He died seven months later on Nov 4 1945 in Ste-Foy La Grande, Girode, France!
Their other brother was named Fernand Barat. He was Grandpa's Godfather. Fernand was born 10 Jun 1891 in Sauveterre De-Guyenne, France.
He served in French Navy.  My Aunt contributed a Photograph of him in his Military Uniform.  The Militaire Fiche for year 1911 is him, residing in Libourne, France!
Fernand Barat died 20 April 1917 according to family memoirs and the Acts of Sauveterre, De Guyenne, Aquitaine, France.
He may have had a wife named Amanda Joif or Juif according to Memoirs.
Grandpa Ferriere didn't record any children for them in his memoirs.
We know for certain they were buried in their Family Cemetery.
Grandma and Grandpa visited their graves in 1975.
They went to Sauveterre and Bordeaux, France on family vacation's.
The problem is we don't remember the name of Cemetery that they are all buried in! My Aunt has the silent video they made of their trip to this Cemetery to confirm if it's the right one!
I have found and documented a few alternate spellings of their first names and surnames from the Acts and from various Ancestry records and memoirs.
Barat and Carrier Ancestry connections courtesy of Sophie Carrier and her father, our real life living Cousins of Marseille, France.

Ferriere and Antonin Ancestry contributed by the late Jimmy Guy Ferriere aka Ives Guy Ferriere.
Jimmy hand wrote his Memoirs in Nov 1980.  His daughters, Claire, Monique, Patricia and Jeannelouise contributed original documents, stories and confirmations on their lines!

Louise Barat Ferriere Taylor told her Ferriere Grandchildren they were related to Madame Pompadour.
Pompadour surname is found in our Barat and Carrier Tree.
One possible connection is to one of Louise's Great Grandmothers. Her names was Jean Pompadour and she married a Jean Barat! I want to find out if these specific connections can prove Mimi's Family History Stories are in fact True Stories.

This amazing Historical Information for Rene Barat was found on a Blog and a few websites and in a few book Sources.
I confirmed and compared the dates and documents with Originals and information that had been contributed from our Family for our Family Tree. Sophie found the same exact records.  My Aunt has Grandpa's Originals from the Acts of Sauveterre De Guyenne, France.
I found this Blog one day in April 2013, it was only a few short months ago.  Sophie Carrier commented on this blog named Pays Foyen.
I was Googling Barat and I landed on his Blog. I Immediately recognized the names even though it was written in French.  I contacted her and the Blog owner and we connected. Sophie is really related to us.
Sophie's father remembers fondly his Cousin Louise Barat Ferriere Taylor and her husband Benjamin Morris Taylor visiting their Family in France. We shared some family stories, Emailing and Facebooking used Google translate! This connection was exciting, and the family really enjoyed this reunion!

13.  Searching for Birth and Parentage records for Lucy Fehlmann.
We hope to find our Antonin and Fehlmann Families.
Seeking cousins and descendants related to the Antonin Family of St-Severin De-Conthey, Valais, Switzerland. They may have lived in Ardon!
I was told the French and Swiss are known to take great care of their Genealogical record collections!
Alice Antonin married Guy Yves Ferrieri on 4 Jun 1929 in Manhattan, New York.  Source: Italiangen.org, Database for Vital records of New York City Brides, Certificate #13918.
Alice Antonin and Lucy Fehlman's Naturalization records, I found them on Ancestry.com.
Jimmy Ferriere's Family contributed all of his original documents and Memoirs to our Family Tree at Ancestry.com.
Alice was Naturalized on 20 Feb 1941 in New York City, New York.
She was residing in Queens, Queens, New York at that time.
Alice Antonin had a Cousin and she lived in New York. According to her daughter's their Cousin's name was Lucy Fehlmann or Lucille Fehlman. Lucy's maiden name is unknown. She married a Fehlmann in Saint Severin and they divorced. Lucy was born in 1892 and came to U.S.A in 1923 alone through Ellis Island. Alice Antonin spoke French.
A Paul Antonin is found in New York City in the 1930 Census living with his Aunt Lucy Fehlmann. He was born 1904 and came from Ardon and St-Severin De-Conthey, Switzerland.
My Aunt Claire's middle name is Lucy and my Aunt Mikki looks like her twin!
A Picture of Lucy Fehlmann is viewable on her Naturalization record.
Help me find out their relationships to Lucy Fehlman & Paul Antonin!
Is Paul Antonin Alice's Brother? He married Daisey and lived in Rhode island and than moved to Seekonk, Massachusetts. He died in 1984. I think this is right one!
Why, so I can properly add Aunt Lucy & perhaps Uncle Paul Antonin to their respected spots in our Family Tree.
Or Is she Cousin Lucy and he Cousin Paul? Lucy is certainly related to us through Alice's Mother or her Father per Ferriere children.
This is the Eluding question, What is Alice's Parents names and Lucy's maiden name? I have information already on Lucy's former husband. Did Lucy die in Woodside, Queens, New York? Where is Lucy Fehlmann buried! Lucy Fehlmann is God Mother to one of the Ferriere Children. They would like to pay their respects to the namesake and locate her burial location. Did Lucy remarry or have children is another question I have not found a answer too!
Alice Antonin Ferriere died in 1951 in Montville, MA. Her Home residence was located in Sandisfield, MA. Alice had three young children at time of her sudden untimely death. The Ferriere children didn't just lose their mother, they lost their family heritage, cultures, traditions and family stories and knowledge about their Antonin family of Switzerland!

14.  My Third Great Grandfather was Hugh Scanlan.  Scanlon was born about 1810 in Ireland.
We are Seeking his Parentage and Origins and Immigration and Naturalization records and Passenger records.
First, I found him in Nova Scotia.  From there he moved over to Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
I found tons of newspaper articles for him. They were mostly published in the Newspaper named, The British Whig ( Kingston) Ontario, Canada.
This newspaper mentioned and published his name a lot.
The very first article I found was dated 20 Oct 1835. It says, "he owned 350 Acres of land at High Shore at Sophiasburgh, Nova Scotia." Deed to Scanlan's property was sold by Auction about 28 June 1837."
He resided and operated his first Auctioneer business in Canada.
Hugh Scanlan was a well known Auctioneer on the St. Lawrence River in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. A place called Scanlan's Warf was named for him!  The British Whig published articles that mention he owned the famous Schooner named Lord Nelson. A awesome and free Maritime site helped me find these great sources to use, cite and share.
Hugh Scanlan Married Jane unknown sometime before 1843 maybe in Philidelphia, PA.  New York is also a possibility.
Hypothetically speaking what if her name is Jane Mackenzie?
Does anyone have a full Pedigree chart I can study for
William Lyon Mackenzies lines and his children with wife Isabel? I have seen a few of their names. I read they had 10 children! I have found only two biographical links and they don't name the other siblings.  Isabel Grace and John Mackenzie's Genealogical information is all I found so far!
Where were these Mackenzie children all born?
Here is a few more images, I found the Real Hugh Scanlan. What do you think? Was he a Raider or Rebel or a undercover Peel Pirate or a business man caught up in a big mess.  Was there a family connected relationship among these men?
My Great Great Grandmother was his Daughter!
Her name was Mary Jane Scanlan and she was born Jan 1843 in Philidelphia, PA.
This Scanlon family arrived in Manhattan, New York by the year 1850.
Hugh Scanlon is found in Federal Census records and in several New York City Directories as owner of a second hand Furniture Store and Pawn Shop Dealer. I think he died or moved before the 1880 in Manhattan, New York was. I can not find Hugh, John or Elizabeth Scanlon after this date.
Searching for death records and burial and descendants! I have not found his death record in NYC Death Index. I can not pin point John Scanlan or his sister Elizabeth Scanlan in any records.
Their first names are far to common for me to identify them with out date of birth or marriage records to compare!

Mary Jane Scanlan married Richard Vincent Dolan in Manhattan or York City about 1860.
Richard V. Dolan Sr. was born about 1837 in Tipperary, County Tipperary, Ireland.  He has family ties to Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland.
Richard Dolan and Mary Scanlan were residing in Manhattan, New York when they died. Richard Dolan died 23 March 1915.  Burial location is unknown.
Their youngest children were raised by their eldest siblings until they all reached adulthood.
Mr. Denniston Mildeberger Bell owned the 555 Acres on The Bell Estate in Amagansett, also known as East Hampton, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York.
Mrs. Francis Dolan Bell was my Great Grand Aunt!
Sister to my late Great Grandfather Benedict Dolan of Larchmont, New York.
Captain Ben Dolan is mentioned in the Larchmont Gazette and  Larchmont's Historical Society online site. They published Historical information about Larchmont's Fire Department and Engine One.
Francis Dolan's first name and maiden name
were not ever identified in any of the articles I read,
about Mr. Dennistoun Bell and his Bell Estate.
Francis Dolan Bell is commonly only referred to as Mrs. Dennistown Bell in all the Articles I found at The New York Times.
My immediate family members came forward with the stories about being related the Bells. Information contributed by the [Nichols, Ferriere, Waterman, Giuliano.]
The Dolan Grandchildren aka the Nichols kids visited the Bell Estate on a few occasions.
Seeking exact Origins and Descendants and Passenger records to find facts and Heritage information for the Families of Mr. Richard Vincent Dolan and Mary Jane Scanlan!
One last side story kicker for this family, We relate to several famous and deceased New York City Supreme Court Justices.
Associate Justice Joseph Michael Callahan and his family. His wife was my Great Grand Aunt, the late Mrs. Elizabeth Madden Callahan.
I  relate through her sister, my Great Grandma, Eleanore Loretta Madden.  Affectionately nicknamed and known as Nellie or Nelly Dolan the only wife of Ben Dolan.
They were affectionately named Poppy & Meemar by their grandchildren.
Elizabeth and Eleanore's Madden's Parents were the late
Alfred J. Madden Sr. and Mary Alice Smith Madden of Boston Rd, Westchester, New York. Alfred Madden Sr. was born 1859 in Cincinnati, Hamilton, Ohio.
Mary Alice Smith was born in Liverpool, Lancanshire, England, United Kingdom.
Brick wall on their  John Madden and Mary Callahan lines coming soon!

His father was Jacomb Dalonzo or Jacob D'alonzo or Giacomo Dalonzo.
His mother's first name was Rose.

Found his name in the book called Maine Military.
Filippo Dalonzo married Rita F. Dalphonso,  Rita Dalfonso lived in Portland, Maine.
Source: (Maine Marriages, )
Rita Dalfonso and her family were from Lettamanopello, Italy.
Both have living Descendants in Portland, Maine.
Rita Dalfonso's father is Camillo Dalphonso. Her mother was Violetta Donatelli. Daughter of Enrique Donnatelli and Enrichetta Pietrantonio. Violetta Dalphonso was left a widow with young children.  She married her neighbor Alfred Deluca also spelled Delucca of Portland, Maine.
Descendant Joseph Cormier provided information and confirmation and permission to find his Cormier Origins. Violetta had a sister Concetta Donatelli. She married Luigi Profenno in Portland, ME. Both sister's named their parents on their Marriage records.

#16. Dedicated to the memory of G.V. C. who will always be #ForeverYoung!
John Cormier Sr. and Eliza Unknown Cormier were married and they had their son,
John Archie Cormier Jr. Archie's wife was Exelia Hartley, Hadley and Hardley.
How did she become Exelia Osborn?
Exelia Hartley Osborn Cormier divorced Archie Cormier.
She married Joseph St Thomas in Saint Johnsbury, VT.
All of the Cormier children were placed in the St. Johnsbury Orphanage.
Thankfully they were all claimed and raised by their father.  I located them in the 1920 Federal Census in Providence, Rhode Island.
Her mother was Exelia King who married Isaac Hartley. They all have Brick Walls with New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Canada Origins!
Seeking Parentage and Emigration and Origins for
John A Cormier Sr.,  he was born about 1840 in Quebec, Canada.
John Cormier died 7 Jun 1892 in Gorham, Coos, New Hampshire.
His eldest son was Henry Cormier. Henry Cormier was born in Nov 1870 in Kingsey Falls, Arthabaska, Quebec, Canada. His daughter was Emma Cormier born about 1868 Quebec, Canada. Emma Cormier married Charles Collins in 17 April 1899 in Gorham, Coos, New Hampshire.
I can not find their mother Eliza Cormier's death record.
Did she remarry, Rouleau? What is her real maiden name? Her maiden name is spelled numerous ways in her children's birth records.
I am thinking this John Cormier's Ancestry could be from one of the lines from Williamstown, Orange, Vermont.
John A. Cormier could be a descendant of this line.
Edmund Conner was born about 1772 of Williamstown, Vermont. He died in 1858 in Burlington, Chittenden, VT. His wife was Dorcus Hunt.
Any additional information on The Edmund Connor Conner Cormer Cormier Courier Lines of Vermont would be greatly appreciated.
Joseph Cormier contributed to help find his Cormier Ancestry.
Links to sources will be added soon!
